It’s official folks, European digital music spending totaled €192 million in 2005! Jupiter has just published its European digital music forecasts and they are available here for download now to JupiterResearch clients.*
€192 million only translates to a couple of percent of the total European music market but that will grow significantly in 2006. Though 2005 was a big year for digital music in Europe, in 2006 the market will come of age.
Apple’s iTunes Music Store and other a la carte download services will continue to dominate the European digital music market, but 2006 will also be a key year for European digital music subscriptions, driven by sustained growth of Napster, Virgin, and HMV as well as he anticipated launches of other major services such as Rhapsody and Yahoo! Music.
In addition to reading the report, you can find out more about these findings at Jupiter’s European Plug.In Digital Music event in London March 15th. More details to follow, but we already have a great line up confirmed.
