AllOfMP3.com Thrown a Life Line

I wrote some time ago that I thought Russiaís uncharacteristic crack down on AllOfMP3.com ahead of the Putin/Bush talks smacked of political expediency. Sure enough, an alternative site cropped up almost immediately with the same company behind it and now a Russian court has rule in favour of AllOfMP3.com, stating that the outfit did not breach copyright restrictions. If the Russian authorities are serious about adhering to international standards on Intellectual property then they need to take a strong stance here, and not just when there are impending high level political discussions. America of course may force their hands if they continue to insist that the resolution of this issue is a prerequisite to Russian joining the WTO. Thatís a brave stance to take considering the relative low importance of music revenues to US / Russian and global trade, but it the music industry will be lobbying hard
