Now hereís a funny thing: Google are reportedly in the latter stages of negotiating a deal which will see them offer free music downloads in China in partnership with a local digital provider. Three major record labels are said to be signed up and the move is part of a bid by Google to unseat incumbent market leader search provider Baidu. Just as this news hits the wires, the IFPI announce that three major record labels have commenced legal action against Baidu for failing to take down links to sites that contained illegal copies of music tracks.
Call me a cynic but:
a) thatís a heck of coincidence of timing, and
b) how does this not count?
